This week marc processed our first batch of meat chickens of the year..(we normally do two rounds of meat chickens, and one small group of turkeys) he processed about 50 chickens, which translated to about 240 lbs of chicken, and over 80 quarts of chicken stock canned! Not bad for a weekend! Having the handy dandy chicken plucker machine sure helps too…
The garden is starting to pop, we got our first zucchini, and a few greenhouse tomatoes…the cucumbers are still going crazy (hence the pickle making extravaganza)
It’s busy times, July…
We got a new meat rabbit for breeding, and the kiddos picked 2 out of our first litter for ‘keepers’…
Our super healthy Cornish cross meat birds, about 10 weeks old..
Our first garlic harvest…
Experimenting with making rhubarb liqueur, and herbal bitters..
Clyde showing just how tall the tomatoes are..
The rabbit condo!
Our first broccoli..
The pickle making, maple bread and butter pickles..
First homegrown dinner of the season, our chicken with zucchini, tomato and cucumber and basil salad, mayo from our eggs…..spectacular!
And the jars that have taken over the kitchen! 😊
